Aging

With age, our skin cells start to degenerate. This leads to the reduction of collagen and elastin fibres resulting in skin sagging and wrinkles forming. The layers of our skin also changes – the epidermis thickens and the dermis thins. With the use of Anti-aging treatments, we strive to achieve mainly two things – the stimulation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin fibres. This will thicken the dermis of our skin. Secondly, the smoothing and reconditioning of the epidermis for better texture and tone as well as allowing better penetration of cosmeceuticals. Aging is enhanced by many factors, not just getting older. Internal and external factors play a role with this process. Internal factors include genetics, nutrition, stress, illness and medication. External factors include sun exposure, pollution, incorrect skincare products and incorrect treatments.
